Property Preparation Checklist
Have your home photo finish ready with this simple checklist. Our photographers shoot the property “as-is”, so if you have not hired a stager you can still get your home in shape for photos and showings.
General
Clear and clean all surfaces and spaces
Clean windows inside & out
Clean carpets & floors, steam clean carpets and wax hardwood floors if possible
Ensure all interior lights are working and on
Replace broken / burnt ceiling and pendant globes
Ensure all lamps are plugged in and working
Use same daylight (5500K) where possible
Remove all personal photographs
All doors (interior & exterior) are accessible
Remove pets, pet bowls and pet bedding
Stop all ceilling fans
Outdoors
Remove vehicles from driveways and curbside
Mow lawns, trim hedges & trees
Sweep & clean patios & entertaining areas
Open and clean hot tub
Open and clean barbeque
Put garbage bins out of site
Remove garden hoses & gardening utensils
Remove all toys incl. trampolines and bikes
Remove pool cover & automatic pool cleaner
Make sure pool is filled, clean and water clear
Put pool cleaning brooms & nets out of site
Remove covers from garden & patio furniture
Dress outdoor furniture with cushions
Open umbrellas if wind permitting
Remove all laundry from washing lines
Lounge & Living Area
Remove remote controls, newspapers & magazines
Arrange books, DVD’s & CD’s in orderly fashion
Remove gaming consoles & any visible cables
Remove all clutter from coffee tables
Remove pedestal fans
Clean and open fireplaces
Declutter mantle
Ensure all curtains & blinds are open
Arrange couches symetrically
Arrange & straighten scatter cushions
Kitchen
Remove clutter from countertops & shelves
Keep countertop appliances to a minimum
Check cookerhood lights & switch on
Check undercounter & cabinet lights & switch on
Remove all magnets & papers from fridge
Remove potholders & cloths
Remove drying racks, sponges, cloths & detergents
Remove bins & any floor mats
Make sure all cabinets are clean & streak free
Make sure all countertops are clean & streak free
Make sure splashbacks are clean & streak free
Bedrooms
Ensure all beds are made & crease free
Use neutral & solid colour bedding
Check bedside lamps, plugged in and working
Clear all items from bedside tables
Remove all items beneath and beside bed
Remove childrens names from bedroom walls
Remove any posters or stickers from cupboards
Pack all toys away in kid’s bedrooms
Remove bedside floormats
Make sure closets & dresser drawers are closed properly
Bathrooms
Basin & surrounding surfaces cleared of all items
Bath, rim & surrounds cleared of all items
Shower cleared of all items
Shower glass cleaned & streak free
Mirrors cleaned & streak free
All bath mats removed
Same colour towels used (neutral & solid colour)
Towels folded neatly over rails
Laundry basket removed
Toilet seat & lid down
Excess toilet paper rolls removed
Toilet brush, aerosols & detergents removed
Taps & faucets clean and polished
